Supplanting your shortcomings for someone else’s ‘mistakes’
Is anyone capable of taking responsibility for their own screw ups?  Or do we live in a world infallible people…

Breaking Through

Virginia and I spent the last week galamanting around the countryside in the USA to visit some of the girls from our House in the Dominican Republic.  They have since left the program so we could, for the first time, see them for ‘REALS’

2006-05-24 043At any Rate, Cori is married now, with a last name of Carlson!  Her husband’s name is Nathan!

Sam and Kacie are doing well to, we got to see them at Grad!  The graduation was held in Marion Indiana.

We did get a chance to see some of the other girls too, but they are still in the care of NHYM and so cannot be pictured here.  At any rate, the weekend was fantastic and so was the drive.  What an excellent four days.  I am glad to be back.

The right to free thought

Someone posted a comment on My Blog about Don and Jeanette.  At the end of the day I could have blocked it…but I’m not going to.  People have a right to think whatever they want.  In turn, I have the right to lash back at them for their shortsightedness and ignorance…but at the end of the day, that post was not one intended to spark a controversy; I think the media and the Bay are going to take care of that for us.

Other people have tried to post comments insulting “janice” for bad grammar and the like…but I’d rather not have those things posted in his memory.  Instead…take the time to leave a comment about Don.

He was a good man.  His family and the people he lived to protect will miss him in his death.

I was moved to tears this afternoon when I went by the site of the accident where this man, a city police officer, was killed by a drunk driver.  There were flowers and ribbons on the light posts, but it was seeing his picture; propped up by a bouquet of roses, and thinking of his family that makes this so sad.

He leaves behind a wife and two teenage daughters.

Stubbes

stubbes

I’ve noticed recently that a great deal of “Stubbes” have been visiting the site.  Perhaps looking for a collection of geneology to find my families roots.  Well, From Sault Ste. Marie to Cochrane live a great deal of us.  My “Oma” and “Opa” pictured above had a family of 14 children, 3 of which were adopted.  They both came from Holland around the 50s.  I am going to find some more information on the roots of my family and post it here on the site.  I get alot of emails from people asking if we’re related.  Since this is the BEST Stubbe site on the web…it might as well be about all the Stubbes and not just my beautiful wife and I.

THE Church vs. the church

Thursday, May 4th, 2006

How could I have ever felt I was standing still.  Life is uphill and sometimes there’s this crest where we can see in all directions before we start moving again.  It is a moment of clarity.  We understand where we’ve come from and how we’ve gotten to where we are.

What I’m getting at is that I’ve felt as though I were standing still for the past 8 months.  However, when I came to the crest a couple days ago after crushing some lemons up and drinking the juice I realized how far I had gone.  I was in a better place.

Throughout history the “church” and the Church have been indistinguishable.  The difference is the people who love Jesus and so gather as his body to edify each other and the entity that is organized christianity.  So many of our rituals and traditions have been passed down to us from Catholic Dogma and pagan religions that we have lost the identity Christ gave us 2000 years ago.

Christianity is NOT a religion…it is a living breathing relationship with Jesus Christ and his CHURCH is not some building.  People say this all the time…but never understand it.  I have heard bigots and racists say those words…what the words really mean is that the church is the people.  It is not the people gathering, it is not the people ORGANIZED…it is simply the people.  I’m not sure I want to be a “christian” anymore…the word started as a slanderous jeer in the first place and now has been tainted beyond recognition.  I want to be a man who loves Jesus and follows his Way.

That is what they called themselves…the followers of the way.  SO shall I.  I will follow the way, and not abandon my morals anymore to attend the most hypocritical bigoted institution in North America, besides the American Senate.  If I do go to church from now on…I won’t do it because I have to…I’ll do it because my brothers and sisters in Christ are there and I can visit them.

No more Church and no More Christians.  It is the PEOPLE and the FOLLOWERS OF THE WAY.
