Paul vs. Jesus?
Problem number one:
Paul was speaking to churches of BELIEVERS in his letters that were practicing sometimes ODD behaviours. he was correcting extremes of Christianity. So when Paul says salvation is free and works don’t save you, he’s not saying “Don’t do works” he’s saying….don’t focus solely on works.
Problem number two:
Most of the web sites that list contradictions are using the NIV and the NSV and SRV in some cases, these translations of the bible are in modern English…much less concise than King James only easier to read. I would encourage people to look the passages up in the King James and realize Paul complemented Christ’s teaching.
Problem number three:
Some of Paul’s arguments were conditional. “I Paul, not Christ…” This pertains to head coverings and women teaching an so forth. Paul did not permit a woman to teach and neither did the culture at the time. the world was misogynistic…an invariable “He-Man Woman Haters” club. Now it’s the 21st century…as scary as this is…women have more insight than men in a lot of areas…should they be silenced in the tradition of our fore fathers?

Whether Jesus and Paul complement each other or not, why doesn’t the church preach Jesus’ words?

I think the church SHOULD preach both…but seriously….JESUS and what he said is FUNDAMENTAL and Paul is practical…and corrective. At the end of the day…christianity has always given into the popular norm…TOLERANCE of sin instead of tolerance of people.
