Digital Millennium Copyright Act

Can I just complain about this and then be done with it?  The motion picture association is suing a software company for producing a program that rips DVDs into an iPod friendly format.

In any case, this perverted idea that people aren’t allowed to reproduce content in different mediums for their own personal use is not only ridiculous it’s about 20 years too late.  Music, movies, television and radio all found their way onto cassette tapes and VHS in the 80s but now all the sudden it’s become easier to do and less time consuming and the music industry is in a panic…loosing sales and money.

Well, the music and movie industry is loosing money because they’re selling CDs for 20 bucks.  With the introduction of a new format (HDVD and Blue-Ray) people in general are getting somewhat pissed.  It was one thing to have to box up all my cassettes 10 years ago and my 8 tracks when I was 10…but packing away my CDs and DVDs is going to be tough…especially since I have them all stored on a hard drive.  I don’t need HDVD…just like I don’t need a cell phone or a microwave.
