March is Gone Again

I used to spend my March Break visiting my dad on fabulous St. Joseph’s Island.  The week would go by with me working in the woods stretching rubber lines around trees and putting stickers on maple syrup cans.  Things have changed allot at the Pancake House and maybe for me too, since I spent my break this year building a web site.

I talked to my friend in the Dominican Republic yesterday.  I’m going to call him Pedro instead of Peter since it sounds more Caribbean.  (He’s from Fargo)  Virginia and I really miss it there and hope we can go back someday, if not as tourists then in some other context.  We might like to go and work for New Horizons again.  God works in mysterious was is a nice way of saying we’re stupid and have no idea of what’s in store for us.  Whether we’re spiritual or not, rest assured life is going to present you with choices you get to make for yourself.  So why spend all your time making the choices everyone else expects you to make when you can live free and within the context of what you believe to lead a satisfying life.  This seems so much more logical than living up to everyone else’s ‘visions.’

When Virginia and I got married someone told us our marriage shamed the name of Christ and I’ve always thought about that.  What is a shameful existence really?  Well, decide for yourself but I’m going to go ahead and think it’s a life lived within the context of other peoples opinions.  Instead of setting boundaries and goals for yourself, you absorb the template put forward by others and live a monotone life, forever assimilated into Mediocratic Autometry.
